Former Deputy Governor of Imo State and chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Sir Jude Agbaso has applauded the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC for early deployment and commencement of voting exercise during the yesterday's governorship election in the state.

He said that there was transparency and obvious improvement from what was experienced from the previous 2023 General elections regarding the entire process from the election umpire.

Agbaso who stated this while speaking with journalists, in Owerri, yesterday on his assessment of the poll, also adjudged the election as free, fair, peaceful and transparent.

He stressed that although there were low turn out of voters for the election but the number that came out to vote was adequate to decide who wins or loses in the election.

He expressed optimism that the incumbent governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma will win the election, "given his massive and laudable developmental achievements in his past three and half years in office especially in the area of infrastructure and human capacity building."

He said, "I can say that from the areas I went, election there have been orderly, very peaceful despite the fact that before the election, there were talks and notions of insecurity and that people not going to come out to vote because of all that.

"But on the contrary, voting started at the appropriate time and went orderly. Everything turned out okay and we are happy about that.

"Yes there was voter apathy because the turn out wasn't massive as it is usually is especially within Owerri Federal Constituency but be that as it may, the turn out was adequate enough to make a good decision on who wins or loses the election."

"The people's mindset abnitio was that INEC wasn't going to do the needful, INEC wasn't going to conduct as it were, a free, fair elections but INEC delivered. Where I voted, BVAS were used and I was properly and promptly captured. The election process went without any hitch.

"As I said earlier, there were low turn out but the entire election process was peaceful, very transparent and I commend INEC for that. I am sure that who ever emerges the winner through the process will be the right choice of the people." he added.
