Ma Nwite goes home Feb. 23, as Imo NUJ, others commiserate with son, Theophilus

The remains of Late Mrs. Janet Nwandugo Nwite will on 23rd February be laid to rest at her husband's country-home, Ndiezoke, Igbeagu Autonomous Community in Izzi Council Area of Ebonyi State. 

Late Mrs. Nwite who died on the 25th November, 2023 the age of 72, is the beloved mother of Comr Theophilus Okey Nwite, Public Relations Officer, Ebonyi State Union, Imo State Chapter.

In a release availed to Society Mirror, on Thursday 22nd February, there would be a solemn moment cum wake-keep for the deceased while on Friday, being 23rd, the remains would leave FERTHA2 Hospital Mortuary to her husband's home for a requiem mass; and thereafter, she would be buried at her husband's home.


This reporter gathered that several prominent personalities from all walks of life including Dr Ezeh Emmanuel Ezeh, Chairman Immaculate Group; Chief Austin Igwe Edeze, CON, a renowned politician and Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Ebonyi State, would attend the funeral. 

Also to grace the burial with their esteemed presence are Comrade Ifeanyi Nwanguma, Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Imo State Council; Hon Obinna Nwedu, Coordinator Igbeagu Development Centre; Dr Cletus Nwakpu, Former Chairman FADAMA, Ebonyi State and a host of others dignitaries.

Speaking to this reporter, Mr. Nwite, an Owerri based Public Servant described his late mother as a virtuous woman and mother who lived her entire life in selfless services to God and mankind.

He said, "my late beloved mother epitomized the word hospitality and her generosity knew no bound. Hence, everyone felt welcomed in her house and always left with fond memories. 

"She was a Charismatic as well as an exceptional woman and mother. She was a community leader, a disciplinarian, a peace maker and a devoted Christian. She stood for the truth and abhorred injustice."

"While I pray God to grant us a successful burial for her, I strongly believe that she is already resting in the bosom of the Lord Almighty and we will continually remember her in our prayers as well as cherish and preserve her fond memories forever." he added.

Meanwhile, several organisations, associations, governmental and nongovernmental organisations as well as prominent personalities including Imo NUJ, Association of Ebonyi State Indigenes in Imo State, among others have conveyed their respective condolences to Mr. Theophilus Nwite and the entire Nwite family over the demise of the matriarch. 

They prayed God to console them divinely and grant the soul of their mother, eternal peace and rest in His bosom till the resurrection morning.
