Imo State Deputy Governor, Dr. Chinyere Ekomaru has urged Nigerian women, especially the mothers to support efforts aimed at combating the prevaling security challenges in the country by instilling discipline and core moral values on their children.
Dr. Ekomaru gave the advice at the Annual International Conference of Stand Up for Women Society, SWS, with the theme: "Women and Insecurity; Reality, Challenges and Call to Action", held in Owerri, Imo State capital, weekend.
Reiterating the importance of women in family and nation building, the Imo Deputy Governor urged women to partner with their husbands, the school and church to effectively train their children and wards to become responsible and patriotic citizens.

According to her, "a better and safer society also lies in the hands of children and women, especially the mothers. Therefore, all hands must be on deck to save ourselves, protect the world and the generation unborn from the consequences of insecurity."
She said, "Insecurity has become a hydra headed global challenge threatening the world's peace, unity, productivity and even the continued existence of man. Sadly, children and women are the most vulnerable victim in this perilous time.
"The obvious but sad reality is that, all of us are involved. Our lives and properties are at risk. The future of the world is bleak. The unborn will face worse challenges and may not be able to cope with the situation, if nothing serious is done to quench the present trend of insecurity."

She continued, "While we stand up for women in the society, let's educate and insist that, women take their rightful place in the family, society and nation building. We should restrict ourselves to the number of children that we can effectively train by embracing family planning.
"We must accord our children the best of training, including good education, skill acquisition, apprenticeship in trade with individuals of character and proven integrity. We must instill discipline in our children without denying them love and compassion.
"We must form a good partnership with our husbands and collaborate with the school and church in the training of our children. As we always, echo, "no woman, no nation', if women boldly assume their rightful place in the family and nation building, insecurity will be drastically reduced if not eradicated."
