Operatives of the Imo State Police Command have arrested two suspected leaders of a cult group known as Black Axe Confraternity in their hideouts at Irete, Owerri, weekend.
The suspected cult leaders, Uche Ibejiako, 26, from Owerri Municipal; Mariano Daniel, 24, from Delta State; were arrested by the Quick Intervention Team, QIT unit of the command led by SP Ubi Ettah in a special intelligence-led operation.
Also arrested during the raid of the hideout were one Micheal Chukwuemeka, 23, from Umuokwu Izombe in Oguta Local Government Area (LGA); and Annointing Ezeh, 23, from Umugada Irete in Owerri West LGA, suspected to be members of the notorious cult group.

Confirming the arrest, the Command's spokesman, ASP Henry Okoye said the arrest followed a strategic operation designed to combat cult-related activities within the State by the Command.
According to him, "all the five suspects have confessed to being members of the Black Axe Confraternity, a known criminal group."
He further disclosed that, "an ongoing investigation aims to gather further evidence on their activities. The suspects will be charged in court upon completion of this thorough investigation."
"The Imo State Police Command urges the public to continue supporting our efforts to combat crime by reporting suspicious activities to the nearest Police Station. Our combined efforts are crucial in maintaining peace and security across the state." he added.
