Imo State Police Commissioner, CP Aboki Danjuma has assured the citizens and residents of the Command’s readiness to curb the menace of extortion and brutality of innocent citizens especially the youths by some of his men in the state.
CP Danjuma gave the assurance at the commemoration of the 2024 National SERVICOM week, held at the Command's headquarters, Owerri on Tuesday.
The event had in attendance, civil society organizations, leaderships of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, community leaders among other critical stakeholders of the State.

The Imo Police boss, represented by his deputy in-charge of the State Intelligence Department, SID, DCP Fana Sirajo Muhammade disclosed that, since he assumed office, several measures have been put in place aimed at enhancing police service delivery and to end spate of insecurity cum reduce crime rate in the state
Danjuma vowed to ensure that any officers who engaged in any form of professional misconduct would not escape the due sanction or disciplinary measure, adding that the Command under his watch is committed to delivering quality policing of the state.

CP said, "The essence of this program is to enhance police-community relationships and to evaluate the quality of police service we have delivered over the past year. Trust is the foundation upon which effective policing is built. It fosters cooperation, encourages crime reporting, and ultimately creates a safer environment for all citizens.
"Accountability and transparency must guide all our actions. It is crucial that we establish accessible mechanisms for reporting any police misconduct. Integrity in our engagements not only protects our citizens but also upholds the dignity of the police force."

Other top management team of the Command including ACP Micheal Abattam, Area Commander, Owerri Urban, ACP Linus Nwaiwu, Commander, X-Squad, solicited continued public corroboration and support towards achieving a better and safer Imo.
While reiterating that security is a collective responsibility, Abattam and others urged the people to always avail the command useful information cum actionable intelligence to aid their determination to effectively secure Imo.
Earlier, some of the guests at the event, who spoke on behalf of their respective organisations and the entire Imo citizens lamented some ills being perpetrated by some officers of the command.
They listed the ills to include unlawful cum reckless arrest and detention of citizens, incessant extortion and dehumanisation of people, intimidation and brutality among others.
While proffering solutions, they appealed to the CP and his management team to among many other things, ensure that their men are properly dressed, treat citizens with some level civility, and to apply human face while discharging their duties.
Also, speaking to newsmen shortly after the event, Mr. Eric Uwakwe, Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma on Youths Affairs and Mobilisation and Chief Chima Chukwunyere, the state Chairman, Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC applauded the CP for his laudable achievements in the State and for organizing the event which according to them provided the opportunity for citizens to participate and contribute their ideas towsrds achieving quality policing of the state.
