The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Shekinah British International School, Ihiagwa, Owerri has received a Peace Ambassador Award from the Citizens Advocates for Peace is Possible in Nigeria, CAPIPIN in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force.
The award was presented to him by the former Inspector General of Police, Mike Okiro at the closing ceremony of a 3-day capacity building training organized by CAPIPIN for senior Police officers, held at Police Resource Center, Jabi Abuja.
Speaking at the event, the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, represented by his deputy in-charge of Operations, DIG Umar Shehu Nadada said the award was in recognition of Unegbu's outstanding contributions to peace building, human capital development, educational administration and humanitarian gestures.
IGP further noted that the award was designed to encourage Dr. Unegbu and others who are investing their resources and time in areas that enhance peace, security and overall development of the Nigerian citizens and the country.
He solicited continued partnership and collaborative support from concerned stakeholders in the country, stressing that peace and security in Nigeria can only be achieved through collaborative efforts of all Nigerians.
Also speaking, the CAPIPIN National Director, Rtn. Chibuike Akujuobi described Dr. Unegbu's award as deserving and worthy, stressing that Unegbu has distinguished himself as a man driven by a strong passion for academic excellence, youth empowerment and has consistently demonstrated an unweaviering commitment to raising educational standards and developing future leaders.
"There is no doubt that given Dr. Obinna George Unegbu's impeccable antecedents and immense contributions to sustenance of peace, unity, security and human capital development, this Peace Ambassador Award is worthy and well deserved." Akujuobi said.
Responding, Dr. Unegbu appreciated IGP Disu, the entire officers of the Nigeria Police Force and the CAPIPIN team for the recognition and promised to remain committed in his quest to continually champion efforts that promote peace, unity and social justice.
The event had in attendance technocrats, senior police officers, renowned international resource personalities among whom are DIG Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha (Deputy Inspector General of Police) Department of Training and Development, Force Headquarters, Abuja, represented by AIG Ifeanyi Uche the Assistant Inspector general of police in-charge of Trainings and Development.
Others are Dr. Roland Kwemain, the CEO Go Ahead Africa Ltd and a former World President of Junior Chamber International (JCI); PFelix Chinedu Akubenyi, a Professor of Environmental Microbiology from the University of Cross River State, Calabar.
