... as IGP Endorses Group's Nationwide Training Initiative for Personnel

In a significant step towards strengthening peacebuilding, conflict prevention, and community policing in Nigeria, Citizens Advocate for Peace is Possible in Nigeria, CAPIPIN has partnered with the Nigeria Police Force, NPF on capacity building trainings for the personnel nationwide.
The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu endorsed the partnership when the group led by the National Director, Rtn. Chibuike Akujuobi paid a high-level courtesy visit to the police leadership at the Force headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.
The visit, our reporter gathered, followed the successful completion of trainings of over 600 police personnel in FCT and Imo State on Modern Peace and Conflict Resolution Techniques held recently in Abuja and Owerri respectively.
The Inspector-General applauded CAPIPIN's vision and commitment to promoting peace and unity in Nigeria, stressing that peace remains an indispensable tool for nation building and overall development.
He disclosed that the Nigeria Police Force under his leadership had already begun considering similar training for senior officers including Assistant Inspector Generals of Police and Commissioners nationwide.
The IGP also welcomed CAPIPIN's proposal to extend peacebuilding interventions to Osun State ahead of the state"s gubernatorial election scheduled for 15th August, 2026, while stressing the importance of proactive peace education in preventing electoral violence and fostering national unity.
Reiterating that his leadership of the NPF encourages stronger collaboration between citizens and law enforcement agencies, Disu also urged all Nigerians to embrace the responsibility of being their brothers' keepers by reporting suspicious activities, preventing conflicts, and actively contributing to safer communities.
The CAPIPIN boss disclosed the group's plans to organize specialized peacebuilding and public speaking trainings from the rank of Commissioners of Police and above nationwide and also a national Spoken Word Competition designed to engage young scholars as advocates cum ambassadors of peace.
He thanked the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force for embracing the partnership and actively supporting the peacebuilding initiative through advocacy and education.
"CAPIPIN remains committed to its vision of making Peace Possible in Nigeria through advocacy, education, strategic partnerships, and citizen engagement. We believe that sustainable peace is achieved when institutions and communities work together for the common good." Akujuobi said.
Major highlights of the visit was the formal presentation of a Peace Ambassador Award to IGP Disu in recognition of his support for peacebuilding and institutional collaboration. This was followed by his appointment as the Grand Patron of CAPIPIN.
The visit had the presence of DIG Isyaku Mohammed, Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) of Police for the Department of Training and Development; AIG Uche Ifeanyi, Assistant Inspector General of Police incaharge of Training and Development and AIG Miller Dantawaye, Assistant Inspector General of Police incaharge of Operations.
Others were ACP Chinedum Aniagbaoso, Head, E-Recruitment and Data-Base Centre, Department of Training and Development, Force Headquarters, Abuja as well as CAPIPIN team including Mrs. Martha Iyoo, Mrs. Cynthia Abasiono, Mrs. Maureen Reens, Amb. Jude Eze, Mr. Chimdya Egwuekwe, Miss Praise Okechukwu, Mr. Prince Chibueze, Mrs. Pauline Meda, and Miss Adenike Okere.
