Engr. Ifeanyi Ozoemelam, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate for Okigwe State Constituency in 2023 general elections has urged church leaders and other stakeholders to prioritize efforts that would end insecurity as well as ameliorate hardship and sufferings of the people.
He said that both religious and political leaders owe the masses the duty of intervening and preferring solutions to the plights of the people.
In a release availed to Society Mirror, Ozoemelam said the prevalence insecurity in the state has resulted to untold hardship on the people and has left their daily existence cum survival at the mercies of God.
He opined that a rooted crisis management approach, effective leadership and genuine commitment of the leaders to the overall well-being of the people will bring about the desired peacea, growth and development.
He said, "the church is saddled with the duty to intervene especially when the human race needs help. Help can actually come from Zion.
"For example, Joseph in the scripture was an instrument of transformation. Even the missionaries who came to Africa with christianity and education amidst difficulties in distance and transportation, health and medicals, food were agents of change and social justice. Today we're beneficiaries of the above examples of their vision and strength of purpose".
"Hence, the church should teach and teach again the 12 gifts of the Holy ghost as the tradition of the Church: "charity, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, generosity, gentleness, faithfulness, modesty, self-control, chastity."

He continued, "the other socio-political leaders own the masses the duty to bring a timely lasting solution to the collapse of our human values as response to the standards of good and bad.
"These increasingly inhuman behaviours of hate, anger, vindictiveness, envy, conspiracies, jealousy, wickednesses and fears in our society with the consent of our young people in response to their suffering, neglect and abandonment is not a profitable venture. Please stop and turn a new live.
"These thinking, actions and inactions of insecurities came with untold hardship on our people as their daily existence is at the mercies of God."
