Reason to why some Nigeria prospective immigrate especially those intending to travel to United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and other English speaking countries were denied visa has been attributed to their inability to pass English proficiency test, otherwise known as English Language Testing System (IELTS).

Experts from the British Council and Swintec Computer Institute disclosed this at a one day IELTS Fair held at Rockview Hotel, Owerri on Thursday.

The British Council in partnership with Swintec Computer Institute, Owerri also  rolled out free six weeks training on IELTS in Imo State to help the participants to pass the international standardized examination.

Speaking to newsmen at the IELTS Fair, Pastor Felix Nnamobu, Chief Executive Officer, CEO, Swintec Computers said that the six weeks free training are for those who have registered for the IELTS and want to achieve good result in a single attempt.

He advised that whoever that is interested for the test should go to Swintec Computer Institute, Warehouses junction, Owerri for the registration.

He added that Swintec is the only accredited institute in Imo State working with British Council for the IELTS training.

Nnamobu pointed out that IELTS is the international standardized test of English language proficiency for non-native English language speakers.

He stressed that IELTS is highly regarded and widely recognized as the world's most popular English language proficiency test for higher education and global migration.

He finally urged those intending to travel to utilise the opportunity provided by Swintec through the British Council to realise their dreams.

Also, in his remarks, the Business Development Manager of British Council, Felix Maduka noted that whether one is looking to study abroad, develope ones career or settle abroad in an English speaking country, IELTS paves way for one to travel.

He also called on citizens of Imo State and environs to take advantage of the training for those that wish to pass the English proficiency test.

He said the IELTS is prerequisite for every Nigeria wanting to travel to any English speaking country, "because Nigeria is not regarded as English speaking country."
