... says gov spends over N40m on each trip

Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for Imo State governorship election, Sen. Samuel Anyanwu has assured that his government would be accessible and accountable to Imo people if elected in the forthcoming November 11th election.

Anyanwu, popularly known as Samdaddy who gave this assurance while interacting with some online news managers and bloggers in Owerri on Saturday, said his government would change the existing narrative and restore the lost glory of the state.

The current National Secretary of PDP accused the present administration of the state led by Sen. Hope Uzodinma of recklessly wasting the state resources on unnecessary travels out of the state, stressing that such funds should have been channeled to enhance the health system or other sector of the state.

According to him, "Governor Uzodinma spends over Forty-two Thousand Dollars ($42,000) equivalent to Thirty-five Million, Seven Hundred Thousand Naira (N35, 700, 000) at the rate of N850 per Dollar in each of his travels from Abuja to Imo and back to Abuja.

"Let me tell you, to charter a private jet from Abuja to Imo, it is now $18, 000 and any hour the jet spends waiting for you is $1, 000. And most cases, Governor Uzodinma will fly in to Imo, using the private jet, spend like six hours here or more and then run back to Abuja for God knows why.

"So when you calculate this money, you will know how much he spends on each travel to Abuja and he has done this for the past three years in office. This is the state resources being wasted. The money that could have been used for the general good of Imo people."

He continued, "when we win, by the grace of God, I will govern Imo in Imo and not from Abuja. Me and my deputy will have time for Imo. We will devote our time addressing the general plights and concerns of our people.

"Of course, providing adequate security, creation of job, ensuring rural development, enhancing our education, health and civil service systems will be the priority of my government."

"Also, under my government, every Imo citizen especially our young ones will be a pride of our nation because quality opportunity for self-development, including skills and economic empowerment will be made available to enable them excel.

"Just like Chief Samuel Mbakwe, I will be a governor with a vision for an envious Imo. I will return Imo to the global world as a hospitality hub and center for business excellence. In fact, I want to be that Imo governor who people will cry on his exit and not celebrate it."
