Inmates of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Owerri Custodial Centre have been appealed to pray for the candidacy of the Peoples Democratic Party in the forthcoming November 11th governorship election in Imo State, Senator Samuel Anyanwu.
The State woman leader, Lolo Ijeoma Domike made the appeal when she led the womens' wing of the party to donate cash and food items worth Two Million Naira to the inmates, weekend.
Speaking during the presentation of the items, Domike, who said the gesture was to demonstrate love to the inmates, assured that Samdaddy, once elected, would enhance their welfare and grant state pardon to deserving inmates.
She said, "we are here to demonstrate love and put smile on your faces. We would like you to continually pray for the victory of our party in the November 11 Imo governorship election.
"You can be rest assured that PDP government will alleviate your sufferings and grant amnesty and state pardon to deserving inmates once when in power." she said.

Receiving the items on behalf of the inmates, the Deputy Comptroller of Nigerian Correctional Service, (DCP) Owerri Custodial Centre, Ekeh .C. Ekeh thanked the Imo PDP women for the kind gesture.
Ekeh urged other good spirited individuals and groups to emulate the gesture, stressing that it goes a long way in helping the rehabilitation process of the inmates.
One of the inmates simply identified as Dozie, while thanking the PDP women, recounted how the party's governorship candidate in the state, Sen. Samuel Anyanwu (Samdaddy) renovated one of the dilapidated structures in the facility in 2018.

Also, while pledging his prayer support, he also urged his fellow inmates to ensure that Samdaddy becomes the Imo governor come November 11 through their prayers.
The inmate further lamented that government is yet to fulfill its promise of amnesty to inmates who did not run away during the 2021 Imo jailbreak.
The items handed over to the prison authority by the PDP women leaders include cartons of soft drinks, biscuits, noddles, toiletries, loaves of bread, beverages and other food items.
