Equity is the quality of being fair and impartial. It is also the process of treatmenting every component parts equally without having special interest to favour another.
In Imo state today, there is high of disregard to equity. What is supposed to be shared amongst three brothers is greedily hijacked by one person. It is indeed worrisome and regrettable!
As a result of this heavy cut on the remaining two, there is .uproar, complaints and murmuring in every nook and crannies of their domains.
Not only that Owerri zone has been marginalized and subjugated to a confided coven, some of the most sane persons from the area that dominates the political space, Orlu zone to be precise have come out boldly to condem the anomaly.

As a force against injustice, Owerri people have resolved to join hands together to speak in one voice against the Orlu zone political hegemony in the state affecting sharing arrangements.
In doing this fairly, the people of Owerri zone relaxed every misunderstandings, qualms, skirmishes and internal ranglings in order to achieve an impactful result.
This is what gave rise to today's popular "Egbu Declaration". This event has been in function since half a decade; where Owerri Zone people came together at All Saints Egbu, spoke in one voice in 2019 leading to the winning of the Governorship seat by Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, MON.

In the words of Jane Welsh Carlyle, "when one has been threatened with a great injustice, one accepts a smaller as a favour.” Today, Owerri Zone has not only been threathened with injustice, but have experienced injustice against them hence, has grudgingly managed the number position for decades. This is unacceptable this time around. Thank God, they have dusted their whims and caprices to pursue the subject matter to its conclusion.
While every reasonable person in the state, especially, those from Orlu zone should join in condemning this act is because, no body knows what tomorrow will bring in the political space of Imo state. Whether Orlu zone may be crying and begging to be considered in future if paradventure, Orlu people fail to support the Owerri zone counterparts to realize this mandate.

It is usually easier to spot an injustice when it is happening to us or someone we care about, because injustice is all around daily looking for who would correct it.
Injustice (supra) is commonly describes as the absence of fairness or justice; it is that feeling of wondering why good things seem to happen to horrible people while one struggles, knowing that he does everything he can to be a kind and decent person. This is where Ndi-Owerri zone have found themselves today.
If fairness is the goal, equality and equity are two processes through which we can achieve it. Equality simply means everyone is treated the same exact way, regardless of need or any other individual difference. Equity, on the other hand, means everyone is provided with what they need to succeed.

Going by this above, one therefore wonders why hitherto, the people of Orlu zone have failed to hid to the voice of reasoning as to support their brothers of Owerri Zone extraction to clinge to the number one position in the state.
Where there is sincerity of purpose, where equity, fairness, and justice are in place, consistent appeal to a brother to consider allowing his brother to enjoy same measure will not be necessary and interesting.
But when there is absence of Equity, fairness and justice, acrimony, animosity and squabbles become the order of the day. Things would have been better in Imo state including mouthwatering development if truly, there is justice.
