Traders at Alaba International Market, and Ama Awusa at Douglas Road, Owerri, Imo State capital, have commended the newly deployed Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Aboki Danjuma for what they described as his proactiveness to duty.
They gave the commendation on Thursday, when they received the the new CP and the top management team of Imo Police Command, who were at the respective markets on a confidence building tour.
The traders who also described the visit as unprecedented and commendable, stated that the new Imo police boss has, by his action, has demonstrated his preparedness and commitment to effective service delivery.
The further pledged their support to the new CP, while also appealing for a more friendly, mutual, people-oriented, responsible and responsive police services in state.
In the same vein, journalists in the state also applauded CP Danjuma for recognizing and appreciating the media as an indispensable tool for effective policing and the journalists as key partners in progress.
The journalists who stated this while interacting with the new CP at his office, also urged him to sustain the media relationship with the command.

They stressed that the media-police relationship would among many benefits, help to promote the activities and achievements of the command in combating crimes and criminality in the state as well as to restore peoples' confidence in the police to guarantee their security.
The media practitioners also promised to partner cum collaborate with the command in its efforts to serve the state and Imo citizens better.
Earlier in his speech, CP Danjuma said that the confidence-building patrol cum operation show of force exercise in some parts of Owerri including the visit to the markets was to assure Imolites of the Command’s resolve in ensuring their maximum safety.

He disclosed that the exercise would also deter criminally minded elements from engaging in any form of post-election violence in the state.
The new CP equally promised Imo citizens that his administration will work in close synergy with other sister security agencies, local vigilantes, and stakeholders in stamping out crime from the State.
He finally disclosed that he has admonised officers and men under his supervision to refrain from any form of corrupt practice, respect the fundamental human right of citizens and discharge their lawful duties professionally.
