... urges police to recommence investigation over incident

Family of Late Chief Patrick Onyewuchi of Uzoagba Community in Ikeduru council area of Imo State has expressed dismay over the inability of the Police to get justice for their family by apprehending and prosecuting the killers of their father, after five years of the incident.
Recall that on the 16th August, 2016, Late Chief Onyewuchi, a notable Peoples Democratic Party, PDP chieftain in the state was gruesomely murdered by yet-to-be known gunmen along Tetlow Road, Owerri.
Shortly after his killing, the state police command through its spokesman then, DSP Andrew Enwerem assured the family and the general public that those behind the incident would be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.

Speaking to Star Post Express over the telephone yesterday, the deceased son, Mr. Tochukwu Magnus Onyewuchi said the police have failed their family both in words and actions by not getting their father's killers as promised.
Mr. Onyewuchi stressed that the family has not recovered from the psychological trauma caused by the manner through which their father died.
He disclosed that even after his father's death, the entire family members had lived in fear because they have continued to receive several threats to their lives from unknown persons and sources; which led to him and many others running way from the country for safety cum protection.

In his words, "It was because of the several threats I received from unknown persons shortly after my father's killing that made me ran away from Nigeria.
"As we speak, I can't come to Owerri and walk freely or visit my family house in the village now because I am afraid that those behind my father's death are after my life too. Because till today, I still get threats from unknown persons over my life.
"Also people at home still tell me about suspicious movements of some unidentified persons around our houses both at the village and Owerri. And on each occasion, I try to invite the police to see if they can arrest the said persons and know their mission but nothing yet.

He continued, "honestly, I don't know what my father did to them that they have vowed to get me down too. I don't know my involvement in whatever that transpired between them. I feel so saddened and depressed over everything.
"This is also the reason why we are still calling on the police to recommence investigation into the matter. All we asked for is justice for our father and adequate protection for us, the family members."
"Regrettably given my father's immense contributions for the overall development and well-being of the society, his killers must not be allowed go unpunished." he added.
