Former House of Representatives member for Orlu, Orsu and Oru East Federal Constituency of Imo State, Rt. Hon Chief Jerry Alagboso has donated education materials including books worth millions of Naira to K. O. Mbadiwe University, KOMU, Ideato, Imo State.
Alagbaso stated this when he paid a courtesy visit to the university where he also officially presented the over 250 books of various titles authored by him to the school on Friday.
The ex fed lawmaker who served two terms in the National Assembly also pledged his continued support to the university, stressing that education development is a collective responsibility of citizens.
The renowned playwriter, politician, businessman and philanthropist, Rt. Hon. Alagboso thanked the KOMU management for the warm reception and lauded the VC for his innovations and achievements, in the tertiary institution so far.

Receiving the books, on behalf of the University's Senate, Staff and Students, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Ikechukwu N. S. Dozie expressed his gratitude for what he described as a "rare gesture fron Hon. Alagboso.
He assured the donor that the books would be put into proper use for the benefit of our students, staff and members of the public who use our University library.
The Vice Chancellor also thanked the Imo State Governor, His Excellency Dist. Senator Hope Uzodimma CON, who doubles as the University's Visitor for his great and wonderful support in ensuring that the institution keeps to its mission of becoming a world class University.

While recounting the laudable achievements recorded by the institution under his watch, Prof. Dozie also enumerated some of the challenges facing the university to include; procurement of two (2) 500KVA/ 33/415 Transformers for extension of electricity into the University Campus, expansion of the ICT facilities including procurement of additional Bandwith among others.
"Despite these challenges, we have remained resolutely committed to the task of achieving the mandate for which our University was established; that is, delivering qualitative education and mentorship as envisioned by the 'Next level 3-R mantra of the government", the VC said.
