National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Imo State has pledged to support the Police and other security agencies in the state to curb the menace of kidnapping, robbery, phones and bags snatching, among other sundry crimes in the State particularly within Owerri metropolis.
The Imo NURTW led by Comr. Samuel Udeh made the pledge during an interface with the state Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma who, with his management team, meet the union members while on a security sensitization tour to some motor parks in Owerri on Tuesday.
Udeh applauded the commitment of the Imo State government and the Police boss to rid the state of all forms of crimes while promising to engage their members to help in fishing out those perpetrating crimes within Warehouse Roundabout, Douglas Road axis and other places in the state capital.

He said, "we are all out, as always, to join forces with the state government, the police and other security agencies in the state to fight cases of crimes especially around here (Warehouse Roundabout), Douglas Road and other places in the state.
"We are so far happy with the commitment and achievements of the Police Commissioner and we will not leave any stone unturned in supporting efforts that will guarantee adequate security for Imo citizens."
Speaking earlier, CP Danjuma said the visit was to solicit continued support of the union as a critical stakeholder in the state in his relentless efforts to achieve crime free Imo.
He expressed worry with the recent incessant reports of sundry crimes within the Owerri metropolis, stressing that the command under his watch would not condone any criminal elements distorting existing peace and stability in the state.
The CP urged the union members and the entire residents of the State to help in giving the command actionable intelligence or reporting suspicious person(s) around them to the nearest Police Station or via the Command’s emergency lines.
Also, the Senior Special Adviser to the governor on Motor Parks and illegal parking, Pastor Frank Onwumere who was also on the sensitization train opined that the task of securing Imo against all forms of criminal activity requires collective collaboration of all and sundry.
He reiterated the commitment of the state governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma to provide good governance and quality leadership for the general good of the Imo citizens, adding that, "security is pivotal to overall development of the state and hence, all of us must join hand in achieving it."
