Imo State Committee on Ending Violence Against Women and Girls, ISCEVAWG has applauded the State Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma over the anticipated establishment of Agency to curb the menace of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Imo State.
The establishment of the Agency, Society Mirror gathered was captured in the 2025 budget of the State and also disclosed to newsmen by Uzodimma in a recent nationwide phone-in programme.
Speaking to newsmen in Owerri, Ms. Blessing Duru and Mr. Udochukwu Chukwu, members of ISCEVAWG said the Agency when established and constituted would remain one of Uzodimma's landmark achievements for Imo people and the State at large.

They insisted that the Agency among other benefits would help guarantee the human rights protection of all citizens especially women and girls, as well as ensure effective implementation cum enforcement of the Imo State Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law 2021.
Adding her voice, the Chief Sponsor of Imo VAPP Law, Rt. Hon. Mrs. Uju Onwudiwe thanked Uzodimma and his wife, Barr Chioma Uzodinma for their thoughtfulness in giving nod for both the signing of the VAPP Law and establishment of the Agency.
She however stressed that the establishment of the Agency was long overdue adding that the proper constitution of the Agency when established is also vital to achieving zero gender-based violence in Imo State.

Onwudiwe and Duru on behalf of the Committee also pledged continued support of ISCEVAWG to the State Governor and government especially on areas aimed at curbing GBV and other related crimes in the State.
They also urged other concerned stakeholders including Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to partner in efforts that would facilitate the speedy establishment and constitution of the Agency in the State for the general good of all.
ISCEVAWG comprises critical stakeholders and major Civil Society Organizations, CSOs in the state including representatives from the Police, National Human Rights Commission, Ministry of Health, Women Affairs, Budget and Federation of Female Lawyers, FIDA.
