Students in Imo State have been cautioned on the dangers of engaging in cult activities and intake of illicit drugs, as such would not only effect their academic pursuits and future but also cause serious harm to their health.
Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Aboki Danjuma and the National Chairman of Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, Alhaji Mogaji Ibraheem Olaniyan gave the advice during their advocacy visit to City Primary and Secondary School, Owerri, to mark the PCRC’s 41st anniversary, on Thursday.
Addressing over 500 students, CP Danjuma stressed the importance of youth in nation-building. He warned against cultism and substance abuse, urging students to focus on their education and become role models for their families and the state.
Imo Police boss reiterated the Command's commitment to partnering with the PCRC and other stakeholders in the state to build a safer, peaceful and crime-free society.
Also, Olaniyan, accompanied by other PCRC senior officials, said the advocacy visit focused on educating students about the dangers of cultism and drug abuse while promoting strong community partnerships.
In the same vein, PCRC Imo State Chairman, Mr. Chima Chukwunyere and Area Commander of Owerri Metro, ACP Michael Abattam encouraged students to be agents of positive change and also called on school managements in the state to establish PCRC clubs in schools to help teach the students good morals and the importance of reporting crime.

The Principal of City Secondary School, Mrs. Ikwunezi ACN, thanked the delegation, describing the session as “eye-opening and empowering.” She praised their proactive approach and promised continued support.
Also present at the visit were the National Youth Coordinator of PCRC, Engr. Junaid Olatunde Victor; PCRC Chairmen from Delta and Abia; Imo State PCRC executives; ACP Kelvin Ayegbusi of the Safe School Squad; DPOs of Owerri Urban and Orji Divisions; the Police PRO; and other police personnel.
