There are Nigerian police officers that have exhibited a high sense of passion, commitment and dedication to their duties. These few gallant men have, by their integrity, carved a niche for themselves.
One of these noble men is the Area Commander of Owerri Urban, Michael Abattam, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP). He was also a former Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO) of the Imo Command. Abattam is a jolly good officer, He is amiable, jovial, humble, accessible, courteous and can be rightly described as a police officer par- excellence.
His recent award as the best Area Commander in Nigeria, is not in doubt.
Of all millions of quotes about greatness ever put forth by humanity, the one by late global music legend, Bob Marley, that “The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively”, epitomizes existential being of ACP Mike Abattam. Indeed, the life of this officer of international repute and a role model to millions is pillared by integrity.
In the history of Imo, Abattam remains the best Area Commander; and this marks him out as a resilient achiever who sets a new dawn for the Police Force, and ushered in an era of policing in Nigeria. Of course, this is who he is! ACP Mike Abattam is indeed a consummate achiever.
During his time as a spokesperson of the command, ACP Mike Abattam did well, to the best of my knowledge. as a practicing journalist in the State, Abattam partnered Imo media practitioners; and he ensured the command was lifted to greater heights. He is a man of many parts, a cop that understands Public Relations (PR). Abattam had even earlier bagged International and local merit awards based on his competence as a public relations expert.
His relationship with the former Commissioners of police that served in the State was superb; and that has continued to receive accolades of people in the State till date. Sometimes, we are remembered by the good work we had done in the past. In as much as he is now the number one Officer in the Owerri Urban police community, his commitment still reverbrates as a team player.
In Nigeria, ACP Abbatam epitomizes what a police officer should be in terms of dressing, comportment, gallantry and what have you. By these elements of this man's personality, and his contributions to the Nigerian Police force, let me say that the ACP Abattam deserves to be lifted as Commissioner of Police. May God bless him.
