Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma has urged stakeholders of Oguta council area of the state to collaborate with the security agencies in the state towards addressing the prevalent security issues in the area.
CP Danjuma made the call at a security meeting with all traditional rulers, communities' President Generals, youths leaders, council executive members among other critical stakeholders of the area, held at the Council's Secretariat, Egwe, on Tuesday.
The CP stressed that until the entire people of Oguta resolve to expose criminal elements among them by assisting the Police and other security agencies with useful information regarding their movements and activities, adequate security of their may not be guaranteed.
"I charged you, the leaders of Oguta communities to look inward and do the needful. Because unitil you decide to expose the bad eggs among you, our efforts to restore peace and tackle security challenges in Oguta communities may not achieve tangible results." Danjuma said.
The Imo Police boss appreciated some of the leaders of the area especially the Executive Chairman of the LGA, Hon. Ifeanyi Nnani, the LGA House Member, Hon. Gilbert Nwosu, the President General of Agwa Central Union, Barr. Benson Akunya and a prominent youth leader of the area, Engr. Paschal Obodo for facilitating the security meeting and for their commitment towards achieving adequate security and overall development of their area.
He assured the Oguta people that the Imo Police under his leadership would continue to collaborate with other security sister agencies in efforts that would guarantee peace and stability of their area.
"I have heard all your security complaints and I will make sure they get to the ears of the Governor and my fellow security heads. By the grace of God, something must happen for good. Thank God we have a good Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma who is genuinely concerned and committed to the safety and security of the state and the people."
"I sincerely want to assure you that we will never rest until all the criminal elements perpetrating all the crimes, Including the reckless killings and kidnapping of your people are apprehended and brought to justice.
"I also want to assure you, that all the suspects from your area who are currently in our custody undergoing investigations for their involvement for one crime or the other, that they will never go scot free if found culpable. We are ever ready to work with your support to achieve a secured Oguta." the CP added.
Earlier in their speeches, Hon. Nnani, Hon. Nwosu, Barr. Akunya, HRM Eze, Prof. Dele Odigbo, Hon. Madestus Nwankpa, SSA to Governor Uzodinma on Print Media, Mr. Olisa Temple Ohamadike, Co-ordinator Oguta youths, Alhaji Rabiu Yahaya, leader of Hausa Community in Oguta LGA, among others expressed concern over security menace in their area and sought for urgent intervention.
"On the 4n of June, 2025, the very soul of our people was pierced when suspected Fulani herdsmen invaded our community and brutally murdered innocent sons and daughters of Agwa. Many sustained various degrees of injury from gunshots and others kidnapped.
"This carnage is not an isolated case but one of many attacks that have gone unpunished, unchallenged, and unaddressed, including the shootÃng of a pregnant woman in her house. How many more of our people must be buried before the world lÃstens?" Akunya, represented by Comr. Johnbosco Obodo cried out.
Hon. Nnani and others also pledged their support to addressing the security issues in their area, and applauded Governor Uzodinma, CP Danjuma and other security heads for their sacrifices and support for their people's general wellbeing and development.
