Uzodimma's second term inauguration: Imo CP assures water-tight security

Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma has assured citizens of adequate security before, during, and after the second term inauguration cum swearing-in Ceremony of the state governor, Sen. Hope Uzodinma. 

The event billed for Monday, 15th January, 2024 will be held at Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri. 

The CP, in a release signed by the Command's spokesman, ASP Henry Okoye, also warned criminally minded elements and those who may harbour intention of disrupting the event to steer clear as his men and personal of other sister agencies are poised to ensure that non of them will be spared if caught.

He also announced a road diversions from Fire Service Junction to Okigwe RoundAbout along Wetheral Road, Owerri on the said day from 0600hrs to 1800hrs, which he said was part of security arrangements to ensure a hitch-free event.

The release reads, "Sequel to the upcoming Inauguration Ceremony of the Governor re-elect of Imo State, His Excellency, Dist. Senator Hope Uzodinma and his deputy, Lady Mrs Chinyere Ihuoma Ekomaru, scheduled to take place on the 15th January 2024 at Dan Anyiam stadium, the Commissioner of Police Imo State, CP Aboki Danjuma in synergy with other security agencies have ordered the maximum deployment of adequately equipped operatives for the effective policing of the venue and other parts of the State. 

"This is to ensure a secure and peaceful atmosphere before, during, and after the inauguration."

"More so, The Command wishes to inform the general public that there will be road diversions from Fire Service Junction to Okigwe Round About along Wetheral Road, Owerri on 15/01/2024 from 0600hrs to 1800hrs, as part of security arrangements to ensure a seamless swearing-in Ceremony. Members of the public are encouraged to cooperate with the law enforcement agencies."

He continued, "consequently, the Commissioner warns criminally-minded elements, who may want to foment trouble or breach public peace under any guise before, during, and after the ceremony, to desist forthwith and steer clear of the venue and the State in general, as the Police and other Security Forces shall deal decisively with any person or individuals found wanting.

"CP Danjuma implore the well-meaning residents of the State to remain law-abiding and vigilant before, during, and after the Inauguration Ceremony. He encourages them to swiftly report any suspicious person(s) and/or clandestine activities observed within their vicinity to the nearest Police Station or via the Command’s emergency lines on 08034773600 or 08098880197. Let us work towards sustaining the peace and security that we cherish in the State."
