... as ex govs' wives, over 500 women converge in Imo for capacity building summit

No fewer than 500 women from across the country are participating in the ongoing 5-day retreat organised by Women of Divine Destiny Initiative, WODDI, a pet project of the wife of the former Governor of Imo state, Mrs. Nkechi Rochas Okorocha.
The participants included wives of former Governors, Deputy governors, women Ministers and Commissioners, spiritual and community women leaders, academia, and other personalities from all walks of life.
The retreat tagged WODDI Inspiring Women Summit, 2024 with the theme, 'Illuminating the Power of an Inspired Woman' according to the organizers was designed to equip participants with requisite knowledge that would spur them to become vessels of success and transformational agents.

Speaking at the open plenary, the convener, Mrs. Okorocha urged the participants to utilise the opportunity provided by the retreat to not only acquire knowledge but also challenge themselves to become better individuals, wives, mothers and citizens.
She disclosed that the organization of the annual programme was driven by her passion and love for women development, adding that for Nigeria to get things right, women should be empowered and encouraged with opportunities to contribute their own quota for national building.
Also, Dr. Ugochukwu Umeogu, Mrs. Glory Echefuna among other inspirational speakers in thier separate speeches, urged the participants and Nigerian women in general to embrace positive thinking, attitude and impactful living.
They also urged the women to prioritize efforts that would position them as chief promoters of family value, discipline, peace, unity and quality moral standard.
Some of the personalities present at the event were first lady of Imo State, Barr. Mrs. Chioma Uzodimma, represented by Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Nkechi Ugwu, Mrs. Omolewa Ahmed and Mrs. Mario Al- Makura, ex wives of Kwara and Nasawara state Governors respectively.
Others were Sen. Rochas Okorocha, Former Governor of Imo State, Prof. Adaobi Obasi, former Vice Chancellor, Imo State University, IMSU, Mrs. Emeka Sibeudu, wife of former Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Mrs. Josephine Udorji, former Commissioner for Works, Imo State, among notable others.
