Former Commissioner of Police, Dan Okoro has urged Police officers in the country to pursue continuous self-improvement and adapt to the evolving security landscape, especially with the advent of social media and emerging technologies, to better address the dynamic challenges in law enforcement.
Okoro, former CP, Anti Fruad Unit, Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, FCIID, Ikoyi Lagos stated this while delivering a lecture at the flag-off of the 45-week in-house refresher training organized by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun for Imo personnel, held at the Command's headquarters, Owerri.
Speaking on values, ethical reorientation cum primary functions of the Nigeria Police Force, according to section 4 of the Police Act 2020, the ex Police chief opined that crime especially fruad is advancing with the help of current technology trends.

At the training comprising 200 personnel drawn from area commands, police divisions and tactical units of the command, Okoro urged the participants to priotize professionalism, integrity, and accountability over personal gains.
"We can't achieve effective policing, professionalism or effectively dispense justice if we have arm-chair Commissioners, Area Commanders, DPOs, sectional heads and so on. We need officers who are abreast with current trends to be able to deliver quality service and enhance security." he said.
Earlier, while declaring the training open, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, represented by his Deputy in-charge of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SCIID, Sirajo Fana Muhammade, said the training aimed at enhancing personnel skills and operational readiness.

He further said the training which is an initiative of the IGP Egbetokun is also designed to strengthen the professionalism and service delivery of the Imo State Police Command, contributing to public safety in Imo State and the nation at large.
Also in his remark, the Command's spokesman, DSP Henry Okoye thanked Rtd. CP Okoro, for his insightful lecture and appreciated the IGP, CP, and the management team of the Command for organizing the training; noting that the programme would enhance the command’s operational effectiveness and improve policing in Imo State.
Present at the flag-off were the Command’s management team, including DCP Hamzat A. Abdulkadir (DCP Operations), DCP Hammajoda Barka (DCP Finance and Admin), ACP Adamu Amadu (ACP State Intelligence Department ), ACP Linus Nwaiwu (ACP X-Squad), ACP Michael Abattam (Area Commander Owerri Urban), and other senior officers.
