Over 1,000 students of Federal University of Technology, Owerri, FUTO have been trained on digital footprint, cloud computing, professional positioning, communication skills among other digital and vocational intelligence.
The trainings was organized by a non-governmental organisation, Regalo Hope Foundation, RHF in partnership with the FUTO Career Service Centre.
The workshop, held at Hall of Mercy Auditorium, FUTO had
participants drawn from various departments and faculties of the institution including students and lectures.
Speaking at the workshop held on Friday, Chinenye Onuorah, RHF Founder/Project Director, said the training was borne out of her passion to provide development opportunities that would help students excel after graduation
Onuorah expressed concern that, a good number of students upon graduation do not possess necessary skills that would enhance their employment opportunity"

She appealed to government and key stakeholders to make development trainings a priority for students to enable them navigate the socio-economic realities after school.
Also, Ooreoluwa Abiodun, RHF Partnership and Communications Manager disclosed that the training was part of the Youth Development Workshop and Digital Skills Enhancement Program (REDSEP) of the foundation which began in 2019.
She said, "at Regalo Hope Foundation, our impact cuts across health, technology, and education in over 20 states in Nigeria. We have trained over 1,037,448 young people in digital trainings and over 625,591 in vocational trainings.
"We have also enrolled 719 in our scholarship program and have given economic empowerment to over 33,504 beneficiaries as well as carried out over 157,896 health testings in various communities in Nigeria."

Director, Career Service Centre at the school, Prof. Thaddeus Ebiringa applauded the organizer and recommended the training to all the students and youths alike.
Prof. Ebiringa of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovation urged other NGOs and well-meaning individuals to partner with FUTO and other institutions of learning on areas that would empower the students with further skills for bright future life endeavours.
Samson Alozie, a 600 year level student of Optometry and Jennifer Ohazuruike, a 100 year level student of Science and Laboratory Technology, among other participants who spoke to newsmen expressed satisfaction with the training and appealed to the school management to avail them more of similar opportunities to empower themselves with advanced skills.
