Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Audu Garba Bosso has urged community leaders to continually support and partner with the police and other security agencies in effort to rid the state of all forms of crime and criminality.
CP Bosso made the appeal when he received a delegation of the Agwa Central Union (ACU) led by the National Secretary Engr Paschal Ekenze Obodo who paid a courtesy visit to his office at the Command Headquarters, Owerri, on Wednesday.
The Imo police boss opined that to achieve effective policing and adequate security, community leaders and other stakeholders should contribute in crime fighting by constantly providing useful information or actionable intelligence to the appropriate quarters.
He thanked the Agwa leaders for the visit and reiterated his commitment to effective community policing and running of an open-door policy to encourage easy accessibility for ideas and information sharing which he said is essential for enhanced security.
He said, "security is a collective responsibility. The police can't do it alone. Individually and collectively, we have a role to play in addressing security concerns and to guarantee adequate protection of lives and property in our state. And this we will do by sharing actionable information with us.
"Hence, we should all embrace the principle of “See Something, Say Something". And as a Command, we will continue to strengthen our partnership with all communities across the state in the interest of peace, safety, and sustainable development."

Earlier, Engr. Obodo on behalf of the delegation congratulated the CP on his appointment and pledged their commitment to supporting the Police and other security agencies through intelligence sharing, community support initiatives, and active participation in lawful security programmes.
He expressed confidence in the CP’s leadership, saying, "Agwa Clan, as one of the largest and most strategic oil-bearing communities in Imo State, remains committed to supporting security efforts and maintaining peace within our area and Imo State at large.
Engr. Obodo who also commended the Divisional Police Officer, Agwa Division, SP John Philips, for his professionalism, dedication, and commitment to duty in addressing security challenges within the community, appealed for the deployment of additional police personnel, operational vehicles, and other crime-fighting equipment to strengthen security in the area, ensure prompt response to emerging threats, and enhance the protection of critical national assets.
In their separate remarks, HRH Eze Chima Azubuike and HRH Eze Dr. Albanus Ozuruoha reaffirmed the commitment of the traditional institution and the people of Agwa Clan to supporting the Police and other security agencies in promoting peace and security. They assured the Commissioner of Police of the same cooperation and support accorded his predecessor in the collective effort to maintain a safe and secure Imo State.
The delegation comprised HRH Eze Chima Azubuike, Ohanyere I of Ubah Agwa and Chairman, Council of Traditional Rulers of Agwa Clan; HRH Eze Dr. Albanus Ozuruoha, Eze Ugochinyere of Uwaorie Agwa and Secretary of the Council of Traditional Rulers; Prince Malachi Asor, Regent of Obudi-Agwa Ancient Kingdom; and Mr. Leonard Ajokubi, the Public Relations Officer of the Union.
